Their Love Story
According to my dad, their love story began when they used to "make out in the backseat of a big yellow Lincoln at the drive-ins." The couple both worked at The Braintree Manor in their freshmen/sophomore year of high school doing laundry, working in the kitchen, maintenance work, and doing housekeeping together. My dad also sat behind my mom in science class at Braintree High School. My dad was captivated by my moms beauty and brains. Their camping trips together at Myles Standish or Wompatuck with the whole gang of friends brought them closer. Especially that one time when they both told their parents they were going apple picking, but instead, they pitched a tent in a campground and spent the night talking and falling in love by a campfire. Prom, movie dates, drive ins, parties..my parents were inseparable. Especially once they both went to college. My dad attended Assumption College and then transferred to Ft. Lauderdale Collegeand my mom went to Fitchburg. Their long distance relationship just made them stronger. They still have every love letter that my dad wrote to my mom while away at school saved in an old shoe box. My dad knew my mom was the one, and vice versa. At Uncle Bob's Christmas Eve party, my dad put her ring on a teddy bear, and under the mistletoe, got down on one knee and proposed to my mom. Best decision he's ever made. 35 years, 5 kids, 4 grandkids, and countless memories later, my parents are still madly in love. I'm so proud of them and look up to their love.
